Normal rules and penalties of the NCAA apply unless exceptions have been made below. Game will consist of a single 20-minute period. Each team is allowed two 30-second time-outs per game. Time outs must be called while in possession of the ball or during a dead ball. There are no timeouts in an overtime period. First team to score 21 points wins that game. There is no “win by two points”. If time expires before any team reaches 21 points, whichever team has scored more points will be declared the winner. All baskets made inside the 3-point line will count as one point. All baskets beyond the 3-point line count as two points. All converted foul shots will count as 1 point. If the score is tied at the end of playing time, an extra period of time will be played. There shall be a break of 1 minute before the overtime starts. The first team to score 2 points in the overtime wins the game.
DETAILS
Paper/Rock/Scissors shall determine which team gets the first possession. The team that wins Paper/Rock/Scissors can either choose to benefit from the ball possession at the beginning of the game or at the beginning of a potential overtime. Each team shall field a maximum of 3 players on the court at one time. The minimum number of players for an official game is 2.
There is no limit on the number of substitutions per team. Substitutions may be made after any stoppage of play. Substitutions can only take place from the sidelines and require no action from the referees.
Fouls during the act of shooting inside the arc shall be awarded 1 free throw, while fouls during the act of shooting behind the arc shall be awarded 2 free throws. Fouls during the act of shooting followed by a successful field goal shall be awarded 1 additional free throw. Non shooting fouls will result in a reset of possession. Players cannot foul out, however, a player deemed to be excessively fouling will be warned and subsequently disqualified if the behavior continues.
Technical fouls are counted as personal fouls. Any individual that is assessed two technical fouls will be ejected from the game. (Depending on the severity of the technical foul a player can be ejected after being assessed 1 technical under the discretion of the referee.) All technical fouls result in 1 free throw and ball possession.
Playoffs will consist of the top teams playing in a single elimination tournament. If there is a tie in the standings, we will go to the “Play-In Game” (head-to-head match-up) to determine seeding. Game rules apply to each “Play-in Game”.
A “Play-In Game” will consist of a single 5-minute period. There are no time-outs. First team to score 5 points wins that game and advances.
All players must be added to a team’s official roster before the day begins to be eligible for Playoffs. Adding players to a team without registering will lead to an immediate disqualification of the entire team.
We enforce a “Zero Tolerance Policy” regarding to behavior of players, team managers, and fans. Taunting, trash talking, or abusive language will not be tolerated. Referees and The Fitness School staff will have the right to reprimand or eject players, managers, or fans depending on the severity of the situation. Abusive behavior toward the referee will not be tolerated. An ejection carries a two-game suspension (including the current game). Any rules not covered will be handled by The Fitness School staff.
